1.4.5 Data Analyst

The Data Analyst is usually a data analyst or data scientist in the enterprise. They write SQL to design models or datasets used in the workspace (e.g. View / Materialized View / Model / Metric).

Data Analysts use the Data Analysis module to write SQL for designing models or datasets, and can also use the Data Catalog module's no-code pages for further data design.

Main features:

  1. Dataset design
    1. Create datasets (Data Analysis module - SQL interface)
    2. Manage workspace datasets (Data Catalog module)
    3. Define dataset metadata (Data Catalog module)
    4. Apply data policies (Data Catalog module - Data Policy; requires permission from the workspace Owner)
  2. Data sharing
    1. Share datasets with other workspaces (requires permission from the workspace Owner)
    2. Configure data services (requires permission from the workspace Owner)
    3. View other data sharing methods (e.g. Canner Protocol / RESTful API)
    4. Generate a Personal Access Token for data sharing (requires permission from the Admin)
