1.4 Product Roles
Canner Enterprise includes 6 authorization roles.
In addition to the 4 data-authorization roles described in Section 1.3, the product also includes 2 system-management roles: the Admin role and the System Admin role.
This chapter describes the responsibilities and feature scope of each of the following 6 roles.
1.4.1 Admin
The Admin is responsible for overall system administration and has the highest level of system permissions, including creating users and configuring every system setting.
1.4.2 System Admin
The System Admin is mainly responsible for monitoring system performance and helping the Admin with some system settings. Unlike the Admin role, the System Admin cannot preview or process data, cannot configure data policies, and cannot view product license information.
1.4.3 Data Owner
The Data Owner manages data sources. However, this role cannot view or preview the actual content of data sources.
1.4.4 Data Steward
The Data Steward is usually the head of a data or business team and holds data ownership.
1.4.5 Data Analyst
The Data Analyst is usually a data analyst or data scientist in the enterprise. They write SQL to design models or datasets used in the workspace (e.g. View / Materialized View / Model / Metric).
1.4.6 Data Consumer
The Data Consumer can only access data shared with them by the workspace Owner or a Data Analyst. This role is usually a domain expert in the enterprise, who uses the authorized datasets to design data access scenarios.
