1.2 Product Tour

After you log in, the product includes the following features. For detailed instructions, see Chapter 2 System Features.

Module menu: Use the drop-down menu to switch between modules. The product currently includes the following modules: (1) Data Catalog (2) Data Analyst (3) Data Push.

The default module is Data Catalog, which provides the main features. Switch to the Data Analyst module to write SQL, or to the Data Push module to configure Tableau features.

Data Catalog module

1. Module menu: Shows the current module. Use the drop-down menu to switch between modules.

2. Sidebar menu: The list of available features. Each module has its own sidebar menu.

   • Overview page: The first page you see when you log in - the home page. Click this option on any page to return home. The home page includes creating data sources, creating workspaces, and links to product documentation.

   • Search (data discovery): Click Search to search by keyword across all publicly searchable data in the system. To view the details of an item in the results, you need permission for that item.

   • Data Sources: The list of data sources authorized to you, and their connection status.

   • Workspaces: The workspaces you manage or that are authorized to you. On a workspace page, you can view authorized data and design reports, and use the workspace's data services, data policies, data sharing, and related features.

3. System Administration & Settings: A shared feature (available in every module). The available settings depend on your role; see Chapter 2 System Features.

4. Notification Center: View all notifications.

5. Personal Settings: View your login information, change your password, create a Personal Access Token (requires permission; this is the token used for data sharing), and log out.

Data Analysis module

1. Module menu: Shows the current module. Use the drop-down menu to switch between modules.

2. Sidebar menu: The list of available features. Each module has its own sidebar menu.

   • Workspace: The workspaces authorized to you. Click the Switch button to change workspaces.

   • Data: The data you have permission to use in this workspace. Search dataset and column names by keyword.

   • Functions: The SQL functions available for analysis and the workspace's UDFs. Search function names by keyword.

3. SQL Editor: Design the workspace's datasets using SQL here.

4. System Administration & Settings: A shared feature. See the Data Catalog module.

5. Notification Center: A shared feature. See the Data Catalog module.

6. Personal Settings: A shared feature. See the Data Catalog module.

Data Push module

1. Module menu: Shows the current module. Use the drop-down menu to switch between modules.

   • Workspace: The workspaces authorized to you. Click the Switch button to change workspaces.

   • Tableau: Create the Tableau connection information used by the workspace and publish it to Tableau.
